Four persons, including three women, were killed and 12 others injured in a collision between a tempo and truck here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred yesterday on the Hathras-Mathura road on a narrow bridge on Karvan river when the victims were returning after extending wedding invitation in a nearby village, police said.

The tempo in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck, killing four persons, identified as Gudiya (30), Yashoda Devi (53), Rajvati (50) and the tempo driver Chandravir Saraswat (25), and injuring 12 others, police said.

While the dead bodies have been sent for post-mortem, the 10 seriously injured have been admitted to the Aligarh Medical College Hospital, they said.

A case has been registered against the truck driver who has been taken into custody, police said, adding further investigations are on.
