4 criminals planning an attack arrested

Lethal weapons,a two-wheeler and chilly powder were seized from the criminals.

The central crime branch (CCB) claimed to have arrested four history-sheeters from Kalyannagar Wednesday as they were preparing to commit a dacoity and eliminate rivals.

The police said Nanjunda (30) of Anekal and Vasanthnagar residents Rakesh alias Jackey (29),Gagan Sharma (31) and Shyam Prasad (24) were aides of notorious criminal Vijay Kumar alias Kavala. Lethal weapons,a two-wheeler and chilly powder were seized from them.

The police,who were alerted by informants,said Nanjunda was involved in 12 cases,including murder and dacoity. There are 13 cases,including murder,registered against Rakesh at the Cubbon Park police station,while five and two cases have been registered against Gagan Sharma and Prasad. Preliminary probe has revealed the accused had a verbal duel with a rival gang led by Thirumaran alias Raja at a city court,following which Kavala allegedly asked them to kill Raja and aides. The four were planning the attack when they were arrested,the police claimed.
