Two college students from Bangalore drowned at the Malpe beach near Mangalore Monday morning trying to rescue a man crying for help.
Gowtham Babu,21,of Katriguppe and Roopesh Kumar,22,of Doddakallasandra,BCom students at Krishna Degree College,were celebrating end of fifth-semester examinations with 11 other friends.
They reached Malpe Monday morning and were playing on the beach when they noticed a person drowning in the sea and screaming for help.
Babu,Kumar and their friend Dileep rushed to his rescue. While Babu,Kumar and Somashekhar,an attender at a junior college in Gundlupet they tried to rescue,drowned,locals managed to save Dileep.
Somashekar was at the beach as part of a college trip and was in-charge of preventing students from venturing too deep into the sea.
