As cyclone Bulbul moves towards Orissa and West Bengal, the Northeast monsoon is set to resume in Tamil Nadu. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast heavy rainfall in 10 districts of the state over the next 24 hours.
According to the RMC, Nellai, Ramanathapuram, Madurai, Theni, Salem, Nilgiris, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Namakkal and Coimbatore districts will receive heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours, while southern districts in the state are expected to receive light showers owing to an Upper Air Circulation (UAC).
With the smog in Chennai showing no signs of dissipating, the RMC has predicted dry weather over the weekend. Rainfall is expected to grace the city after two days, the weather department said.
It is expected that the resultant rains will help in dissipating the smog that has been hanging over Tamil Nadu for the past five days.

According to private weather blogger Tamil Nadu Weatherman, parts of the state are expected to witness thunderstorms on Friday while Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chennai (KTC) are expected to receive rainfall once cyclone Bulbul subsides.
The RMC has also cautioned fishermen in the state against venturing into the Bay of Bengal on Friday owing to the movement of Cyclone Bulbul.
