Chennai weather today: People rescued from a flood-hit area in Chennai (PTI)
Chennai Weather News Forecast: Tamil Nadu weather is likely to remain inclement on Thursday, December 4, especially in the districts along the northern coast of the state. As per the India Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal area.
The incessant rain in Chennai and other districts over the past few days left streets waterlogged and many areas flooded. Traffic disruptions were also reported in many regions.
A heavy rain forecast is in place for Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and Ramanathapuram districts in Tamil Nadu.
The rain spell is likely to continue till December 5.

The IMD in its latest bulletin on Thursday morning said four districts, including Chennai, will be under an Orange Alert. The three other districts are Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu. The IMD said light to moderate rain with lightning and thunderstorms is likely in these districts.
Coimbatore, Erode, Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram, Tenkasi, Nilgiris, Thoothukkudi, and Tirunelveli are under a Yellow Alert.
While there are reports of schools and colleges being declared closed on Thursday in the districts with Orange Alerts, including Chennai and Chengalpattu, for the rain and waterlogging, there is no confirmation by the district administrations on their official websites.
On Tuesday, several areas in Chennai, like Vyasarpadi, Kodungaiyur, MKB Nagar, and Mullai Nagar reported severe waterlogging.

Chennai is likely to have cloudy skies throughout the day and the temperature could range between 24°C and 25°C.
