Yadav storms into final

Last week when Ajay Yadav lost to Fatehdeep Singh in the AITA Tennis Tournament,the youngster vowed to make a comeback soon. On Thursday,Yadav seemed to have forgotten the memories of last week as he ended the challenge of Maninder Singh with an easy 6-0,6-0 win to move into the finals of the men’s singles’ category in the Rs 50,000 AITA tennis Tournament being played at CLTA courts,Sector 10. In the other semi-final encounter,Kerela’s Tynold Timothy had to fight his way hard to carve a 4-6,7-5,6-3 win over Suraj Beniwal to move into the final.

Yadav started the match on an attacking note as he dominated the proceedings against Fatehdeep Singh. Yadav claimed the first set easily with a margin of 6-0 before winning the second set with an identical margin to advance into the final of the tournament. In the other semi-final encounter,it was a tough going for Tynold Timothy against Suraj Beniwal. Timothy lost the first set with a 4-6 margin before making a comeback into the match. Timothy claimed the second set with a narrow margin of 7-5 before claiming the third and final set with a 6-3 margin to march into the finals.

In the women’s singles’ category, Ravnoor Kaur will face Jaspreet Kaur in the final. In the first semi-final encounter,Ravnoor Kaur,a CLTA trainee and a student of SD Public School,scored a 6-1,6-0 win over Baljinder Kaur of Haryana. After leading by a 3-1 margin in the first set,Kaur took control of the match as she claimed the first set with a 6-1 margin. The second set saw Kaur dominating the proceedings right from the start and claimed the set with a 6-0 margin.

In the second semi-final encounter,Jaspreet Kaur of Punjab scored a 7-5,6-3 win over Shalaka Uddur of Karnataka to set up a clash with Ravnoor. Kaur claimed the first set narrowly with a margin of 7-5 before claiming the second set with a 6-3 margin to march into the final.

Semi-finals: (Men’s Singles): Ajay Yadav bt Maninder Singh 6-0,6-0,Tynold Timothy bt Suraj Beniwal of Haryana 4-6,7-5,6-3; Doubles : Ajay/ Gurmohit bt Mandeep/Kamal 6-4,6-3,Kamal/Krishik bt Manoj/Suraj 6-2,6-3; Women: Ravnoor Kaur bt Baljinder Kaur 6-1,6-0,Jaspreet Kaur bt Shalaka Uddur 7-5,6-3.
