Sikh bodies will not yet demand a ban on MSG-2 without watching the movie first. The Dera Sacha Sauda head has not visited Punjab since 2007 after the Akal Takht called Sikhs to boycott it.
The Akal Takht declared Ram Rahim an offender for allegedly copying the attire of the 10th Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh. Sikhs bodies had strongly opposed religious congregations of the Dera Sacha Sauda and many bloody clashes were witnessed in the state. However, Sikh bodies have reacted differently to MSG-2.
“We do not want to oppose movie without watching it. We do not know what is in the movie, so it would not be appropriate to comment on ban the movie,” Said Kanwarpal Singh of Dal Khalsa. “Banning movie is job of Punjab government. It is not under our realm. We do not know what is in it. We do not want to give any publicity to movie,” Said Daljit Singh Bedi, additional secretary SGPC.
