The Municipal Corporation House meeting, scheduled for Friday,is likely to be a stormy affair as the BJP is all set to rake up the rail bribery scam. The party has been holding protests across the city demanding resignation of the local Congress MP Pawan Kumar Bansal and is likely to raise the issue in the House as well.
The saffron partys protests began as soon as Bansals nephew Vijay Singla was arrested in the rail bribery case. While the issue led to Bansals resignation from the Railways Ministry, the BJP has been demanding his resignation from Parliament.
The issue has already brought all activity within the Congress to a halt while handing the advantage to the BJP,which has been on an overdrive by holding a number of programmes. There have been several instances in the past as well when the BJP councillors have protested against Bansal. The House had witnessed heated protests when the report of the booth allotment scam prepared by a former Additional Deputy Commissioner named Bansal. While the MP later received a clean chit, the issue led to disruption of the meeting that followed.
During the last meeting BSP councillor Jannat Jahan accused the Congress of giving credit for her work to Bansal. Earlier in 2009,after the Mayoral elections there were several protests over the use of mobile phones during polling.
