Week-long programme for faculty ends at PU

Eminent speakers from different fields including administration,police,defence and medicine interacted with the participants.

A one-week faculty development programme (FDP) under the TEQIP-II concluded on Saturday at Dr Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (SSB UICET),Panjab University (PU).

FDP was the first in series of the basic and advanced training programmes for the teachers,scheduled to be held at Dr SSB UICET during the next one year. The theme of the programme was ‘Moving from Pedagogy to Andragogy’.

A number of teachers from SSB UICET,Punjab Engineering College (PEC),Sector 12,University of Technology (UIET),Dr HSJ Dental Institute,Department of Geology,University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) participated in the programme.

Eminent speakers from different fields including administration,police,defence,value education,media and medicine interacted with the participants during the week-long programme. Practical sessions on yoga,meditation,stress management and even physical fitness were also organised.

UICET chairperson,Professor U S Shivhare said that modern day teaching is characterised by two critical parameters — first,every student is a young adult whose has immense and immediate exposure to vast information which needs to be channelised,and second,each faculty member has to do multitasking,playing different roles such as teacher,administrator,warden,counsellor,guide,researcher,and also as a learner.
