From Monday there will be a Volvo bus available on the Chandigarh-Delhi route every 45 minutes,as the Haryana Transport Department today decided to increase the frequency of trips on the route from 21 to 28. The move was made after witnessing the encouraging response and huge demand for Volvo buses on the route.
The fare of Volvo buses from Delhi to Chandigarh is Rs 510 and the travelling time from Delhi to Chandigarh or vice-versa is four-and-a-half to five hours,depending on the traffic conditions during a trip. Four tickets of ones choice can be booked at a time,up to 10 days in advance and till five hours before the scheduled staring time of the journey,using the official Haryana Transport Department website hartrans.gov.in.
For booking a ticket online,one needs to pay Rs 25 extra as reservation charges. The Volvo buses to Delhi depart from ISBT-17,Chandigarh.
The fare between Chandigarh and Gurgaon is approximately Rs 600 per passenger and the time taken is approximately six hours,depending on traffic conditions. During the journey,a 20-minute halt is also scheduled at Karna Lake,Karnal.
From Monday onwards,15 trips of Volvo buses would be from Chandigarh to Gurgaon via ISBT,Delhi and Indira Gandhi International Airport,two to Faridabad via ISBT,Delhi,and 11 trips from Chandigarh to ISBT,Delhi. The Volvo buses shall now be available every 45 minutes,round the clock.
Ten more multi-axle Volvo buses have been added to the existing fleet. The buses have air-conditioning and heating provisions,laptop chargers on every seat row,semi-sleeper calf or leg support seats and DVD and LED TV for entertainment. Each passenger travelling in the Volvo buses is provided with English and Hindi newspapers and a one-litre mineral water bottle.
