The Vice-President of India M Hamid Ansari will be in city as a Chief Guest at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Bar Council of Punjab,Haryana and Chandigarh on Saturday. A Rehman Malik,Interior Minister,Pakistan will also be attending the celebrations.
Addressing the media Lekh Raj Sharma,chairman,Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana said Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil will be the Guest of Honour at the celebrations while other senior politicians including Pawan Kumar Bansal,Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources and Salman Khurshid,Union Minister of Law and Justice will be present.
The day long Golden Jubilee celebrations will consist of 3 sessions. The inaugural session,at the PGI auditorium,will be addressed by the Vice President of India. He will also present lifetime achievement awards to Hawa Singh Hooda,Advocate General,Haryana (retd),Justice Kuldeep Singh,Judge,Supreme Court of India and senior advocate H L Sibal.
After the inaugural session,the next session would see the felicitation of advocates who have completed fifty years of practice. A cultural programme will also be held in this session.The third session will be held at the Law Bhavan in Sector 37. Kuldeep Singh,Speaker,Haryana Vidhan Sabha will be the chief guest for the third sessionThe celebrations will highlight the future vision of the Bar Council, said Lekh Raj Sharma.
