While there are nearly 1,150 seats for the BDS programmes in different dental colleges of Punjab, the number of MDS course is less than 100. Highlighting this,Dr S S Gill, the Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University and Health Sciences, said there is a need to increase the number of post-graduate seats so that the BDS students can be placed in a better way. He was speaking at the convocation function of MBBS students at CMCH here on Saturday. Speaking about the mushrooming of dental colleges,he said: During last year counselling, over 30 per cent of seats in three dental colleges went vacant. We therefore need to strike a balance between the two.
