UT launches city guide mobile app guide mobile app

As part of the tourism week in Chandigarh,the Administration launched an interactive city guide application for smart phones on Friday.

As part of the tourism week in Chandigarh,the Administration launched an interactive city guide application for smart phones on Friday. Titled ‘Chandigarh City Guide’,the application and tabs were formally launched by K K Sharma,adviser to the Administrator.

Prerna Puri,IAS,secretary (information technology),Chandigarh Administration said it is the first mobile application in the Northern region developed by any government,department or administration. The mobile phone application is an interactive pocket guide which will provide information literally on the finger tips. The application provides information about the following:

“The City Beautiful” (historical background,Le Corbusier’s master plan,edict of Chandigarh and a map of the city),places of tourist interest,hotels,restaurants,events and selected services like cabs,hospitals,airport,railway station,police helpline numbers.

The application is studded with a bouquet of features,including facility for dialing the numbers from within the application,information about the distance,route and driving time from present location. Integrated with Google Maps,it works even without Internet connectivity. The Chandigarh City Guide is available for download on Chandigarh Administration’s website chandigarh.gov.in.
