To promote Research and Development (R&D) in the field of engineering and other emerging areas related to engineering sciences, the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET),PU,has decided to collaborate with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC),Mohali.
Professor Arun Kumar Grover,PU Vice-Chancellor (V-C),and J S Bhatia,CDAC Executive Director, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday to mark the association.
Welcoming the development,Renu Vig,UIET director said,CDAC,a scientific society of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology under the central government, has a number of research projects.
The collaboration will help under-graduate UIET students to enrol for the six-month internship with CDAC and be part of these projects. Even post-graduate students will be able to do their thesis in the institution.
It will also help UIET organise faculty development programmes with the institute and avail other research facilities, Vig added.
CDAC is primarily an R&D institution involved in design, development and deployment of electronic and IT solutions for economic and human advancements.
As per the MoU,a nucleus for promoting R&D and creation of human capital in engineering and allied areas will be created by exploiting the unique expertise, intellectual and infrastructural capabilities of both the organisations.
The MoU is expected to contribute to enhancement of ongoing research, human resources and provide exposure to faculty and students in both institutions. It is also slated to help in exchange and exploration of research findings .
