Two suicides were reported from different parts of the city on Monday morning. In both the cases,the bodies of the victims were found hanging from trees.
In the first case,a 23-year-old security guard employed with a private firm in Sector 17 reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself. According to police,the victim,identified as Ram Kumar,was found hanging with a rope tied to a tree in the forest area near Kaimbwala.
Kumar had left the house for work in the wee hours on Monday. His body was spotted hanging from a tree after which some passer-by informed police.
There were cut marks on his hands which indicated a failed attempt to commit suicide. No suicide note was recovered. Kumar had reportedly been under depression since he had come to the city.
The post-mortem will be conducted on Tuesday after his parents reach the city from UP.
In a separate case,the body of a 22-year-old salesperson employed with a Sector 32 medical store was found hanging near the forest area adjoining the railway station. The victim,identified as Phool Chand,a resident of Sector 11,had been missing since March 30 after he had left home to visit his relatives in Ambala. A case of missing person was registered at the Sector 11 police station in this regard.
The victim had married around two years ago. He was reportedly under depression as he had no child from his marriage. No suicide not was recovered from the spot.
Meanwhile,the issue of jurisdiction cropped up again between the GRP and Chandigarh Police. Finally,the UT Police investigated the case. No foul play is suspected in both the cases. Police have initiated inquest proceedings.
