Two student leaders held with illegal pistol, cartridge

According to officials, the CIA staff alongwith the police were patrolling at Sunny Enclave when they received an information that the two were roaming in Kharar “with an intention to commit a serious crime” and soon a check point was established in the area.

Two student leaders have been arrested by the CIA in Mohali for possessing illegal pistol and cartridge. The duo were arrested on the basis of a tip-off, police said. CIA staff in-charge inspector Trilochan Singh said the two students – Sami, who is the campus president of the SOPU at Chandigarh’s Sector 46 College and Naseeb Chand, who is an engineering student at Rayat & Bahra College and is associated with the NSUI in the Mohali, were arrested on Saturday.

According to officials, the CIA staff alongwith the police were patrolling at Sunny Enclave when they received an information that the two were roaming in Kharar “with an intention to commit a serious crime” and soon a check point was established in the area.

“Sami and Naseeb were traveling on a Royal Enfield motorcycle when they were stopped by the police. When they were searched, an illegal pistol and cartridge was recovered from them,” Singh said. Police has registered a case against the two for possessing an illegal weapon and are currently in custody of the CIA staff.
