Two city students from Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA) have achieved eligibility for admission in Indian Institute of Technology( IIT).
Having secured first and eighteenth rank in the Graduate Aptitude For Engineering (GATE) examination,Rhythm and Sanyam can now apply for postgraduate courses in the most-renowned architecture colleges of the country along with admission in the IITs. They are also eligible for scholarship worth Rs 10,000 per month.
A fifth year graduate student from CCA,Rhythm Kataria plans to now apply for IIT Roorkee and School of Planning and Architecture,New Delhi along with other topmost architecture colleges of the country.
I was completely shocked to see the results as it was completely beyond my expectations. Its the reward of the hard work over five years, he said.
Another student from the same college,Sanyam Bahga,plans to join IIT Roorkee now.
Talking to Newsline,Sanyam said,It is not only consistent hard work but also keen interest and love for subject that today I have been able to secure 18th rank. It feels great to be among the top 18 students who cleared the exam.
Both the students have been very actively involved in the different co-curricular activities in the college. Sanyam had put up a photo exhibition on the architecture of Europe at the Punjab Kala Bhawan in October last year. He had captured those in his camera during his internship in Switzerland. While Rhythm had won the All India Level Landscape Design Trophy in Chennai in December 2009 and runner-up trophy in Transparence 2009,organised by Saint Gobain.
This year around 6.86 lakh students appeared for the GATE exams for admission into the IITs for different postgraduate and doctorate programmes in field of engineering,technology,architecture ,pharmacy etc.
