As city colleges spring back in action with the new academic session, fashionistas stand up in attention. For now, there’s just no way they can identify or segregate students of different colleges based on there dress code. No longer can they assume that a funky fashionable girl is a GCGite (yes that’s what we address our lovely ladies from Government College for Girls) or a formally dressed student is from SD College or one in a subtle kurta teamed with jeans is the studious one from MCM College. There is a perfect mishmash and cross-pollination.

“All college girls look the same. Right from their head band to the nail of the toe,” observes Pratibha Sahi,a city-based designer,as she shuttles from Sri Guru Gobind Singh College to GCG on the same day and though happy on the change, mulls over the loss of identity. One that many feel have been triggered by the global fashion appeal and has been taken forward with the addition in add-on courses and central admissions.
