The body of Arun Sharma, a trekker who died while on an expedition at Umasi La Pass, has been extricated and will be brought to Kangra by Saturday.
Mohan Chauhan, Secretary GAD, said that the body was being brought to Pangi by road and from there it will be flown to Kangra on Saturday.
Sharma’s condition had worsened during the expedition. This was reported by Rijul Gill, who was part of the expedition. Sharma, reportedly, was unable to move, and Gill managed to alert the authorities.
Earlier missions to access Sharma were hampered due to inclement weather in the region. Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh informed the Vidhan Sabha of the latest development when BJP MLA Ravinder Ravi pointed to the government’s failure in returning Sharma’s body.
