Arrested for robbing a resident of Sector 18 at gunpoint on Saturday,Neeraj has been remanded in police custody till April 4. Two of his accomplices are absconding,said the police. During interrogation,the accused claimed that they failed to carry any cash with them owing to the melee after the robbery. The situation will be clear only after the other two accused are arrested, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Ram Chander Rathi.
He added that police teams have been sent to Uttar Pradesh to trace the accused.On Saturday,three armed robbers escaped with Rs 6 lakh in cash from the shop of Vita distributor,Vinod Jain,in Sector 18,Panchkula. While two of the accused managed to escape from the spot,Neeraj,a resident of Colony Number 5,was nabbed by local shopkeepers and handed over to the police. A revolver and five live cartridges were recovered from the spot.
