Trade union members observe May Day

The Chandigarh-Punjab Union of Journalists (CPUJ) today organised a rally at Sector – 17 Plaza to mark May Day,and to recall the sacrifices of people who their lives for working-class people. A large number of journalists formed a human chain to press their demands. CPUJ President Vinod Kohli expressed concern over the delay in implementation of Justice Majithia Wage Board Report for journalists. He urged media organisations to implement the wage-board report at the earliest,as delay would raise doubts in the minds of newspaper employees,because inflation had increased manifolds. Kohli demanded inclusion of the electronic media in the purview of the Press Council by renaming it as the Media Council. This he said would help address issues related to the electronic media.
