A tractor, a car, a motorcycle, a scooter, a Bolero pickup, jewellery, cash, and a residential house—these are among the several assets belonging to drug traffickers in Haryana’s bordering district of Fatehabad that were frozen as part of a coordinated crackdown in the last few days.

“Arresting traffickers is not enough. Their illegal wealth must be attacked. The drug trade will not end until the sources of income are destroyed,” Siddhant Jain, Superintendent of Police (SP), Fatehabad, told The Indian Express.

Properties belonging to five individuals have already been attached, while six more are under scrutiny and likely to face similar action soon, the police said.

SP Jain said that the five people, whose assets have been frozen, have already been convicted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The frozen assets have been attached under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act, and a detailed report has been submitted to the competent authority in New Delhi, he added.

Among the convicts is Mandroop alias Manroop, a resident of Khabda Kalan village, whose assets worth ₹41.32 lakh—including a tractor, car, motorcycle, scooter, Bolero pickup, jewellery, and cash—have been frozen.

While Mahender Singh alias Mindu, a resident of Loha Khera village, has lost a Creta car and a residential house valued at ₹30 lakh, Bablu, a resident of Fatehabad town, has had his Scorpio, Maruti Vitara, and a tractor frozen, with a combined worth of ₹28 lakh.

Nachhataro, a woman from Nanhedi village, has lost property, including a house, and a car valued at ₹25 lakh. Additionally, a residential house belonging to a resident from a village in Patiala, Punjab, estimated at ₹16 lakh, has also been frozen.

“These persons will not be able to use, sell, or transact these assets,” said SP Jain.

According to the police, this coordinated crackdown was the result of detailed investigations carried out by the Crime Branch, Cyber Cell, and District Intelligence Unit.

SP Jain said that a list of traffickers has been prepared, and the upcoming action will be even more aggressive. “To all drug dealers—either quit the trade, or be prepared to lose everything,” Jain warned.

No benefits under government welfare schemes

Earlier, O P Singh, Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB), had written to Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, requesting that 860 identified habitual drug traffickers be stripped of all benefits under government welfare schemes.

These individuals, each with three or more registered cases under the NDPS Act over the past decade, are being targeted as part of a broader strategy to create a multi-layered deterrent against the drug trade.

According to the HSNCB data, the seizure of cocaine and heroin in Haryana has recorded a sharp surge in the first six months of this year compared to the corresponding period in 2024, while the seizure of ganja has declined this year.

Earlier, in April this year, the Haryana Police had prepared a list of 849 “high risk” drug smugglers, each with three or more cases under the NDPS Act in the past decade, and circulated it to all field units across the state—accompanied by strict orders for targeted enforcement.
