The Tibetan government-in-exile has welcomed the statement of the Chinese premier Wen Jiabao in which he had said that the leadership of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) is willing to continue contacts and consultations with the envoys of Dalai Lama to find a solution for the Tibet issue.
The Prime Minister of Tibetan government-in-exile,Samdhong Rinpoche,in a statement on Saturday said,We welcome the statement of Premier Wen Jiabao. Dalai Lama is always ready to interact with the Chinese leadership to find a mutually acceptable solution to the problems of the Tibetans.
What the Dalai Lama is seeking has already been presented to the PRC government in writing as a Memorandum on Genuine Autonomy for the Tibetan People by his envoys on October 31,2008 during the eighth round of talks, the statement reads.
The memorandum clearly outlines the aspirations of the Tibetans, strictly within the constitutional principles of the Peoples Republic of China,Rinpoche added.
He said it appears that Premier Wen Jiabao is trying to avoid acknowledging this document by referring to a previous statement made by Dalai Lama.
He said that Dalai Lama has reiterated that he is not seeking separation from the Peoples Republic of China and the allegations by the Chinese Premier are not true.
Rinpoche said we hope the Beijing will sincerely resolve this problem.
