Three Cadets from Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls, Mohali, have been selected for pre-commission training at the Indian Air Force Academy, Dundigal, for ground duty branches. The achievement of the institute in preparing the successful candidates for the ground duties course hold importance in light of the fact that there are very few vacancies for girl candidates in these courses and there is stiff all India level competition to get selected for the same. The training for the course will commence at the academy from July 2023 onwards.
Cadets Haroop Kaur, Nivedita Saini and Savleen Kaur are the three successful candidates from the institute. Haroop belongs to Mohali and her father is a head constable in Punjab Police. While Savleen also belongs to Mohali and her father is a senior bank manager, Nivedita is from Pathankot and her father is the principal of a private school.
