Three booked for stealing jewellery worth Rs 3.8 lakh

A case on charges of theft was registered by the Chandigarh Police on Wednesday against three people for stealing jewellery worth Rs 3.8 lakh from a jewellery shop on June 12.

A case on charges of theft was registered by the Chandigarh Police on Wednesday against three people for stealing jewellery worth Rs 3.8 lakh from a jewellery shop on June 12.

Two women and a man had come to a jewellery shop in Manimajra owned by Ajay Sharma. The trio,caught on CCTV camera installed in the shop,are seen perusing jewellery. On June 12,the accused had come to the shop and were entertained by one of the employees.

The complainant alleged that when his attendant had gone to answer a phone call leaving behind diamond jewellery,the accused stole articles from the shop. Ajay and his employee learnt about the theft when they tallied the jewellery on June 13 morning. “The complainant said that he learnt about the theft next morning when the inventory of jewellery was conducted. We have seen the CCTV camera footage and are in the process of nabbing the three,” said Balbir Singh,ASI,Manimajra Police Station.
