Thieves steal bag from car,containing Rs 2.8 lakh inside

In a broad day-light robbery,on Monday afternoon,thieves allegedly took away a suitcase containing Rs 2.8 lakh,a pistol and cartridges from a Honda City which was parked in Sector 32 market.

In a broad day-light robbery,on Monday afternoon,thieves allegedly took away a suitcase containing Rs 2.8 lakh,a pistol and cartridges from a Honda City which was parked in Sector 32 market.

The suitcase was stolen after breaking the windscreen of the car.

Police said a property dealer,Harbhajan Singh,resident of Sector 21 had come in his Honda City to sector 32 to see his dentist at around 10 am. After dropping Singh,the driver Manjeet Singh parked the car in the market.

“Manjeet Singh stayed inside the car till 1.30 pm. He then locked the car left for tea. When he returned ten minutes later,he was shocked to find the windscreen of the car broken and the suitcase missing,” police said.

The driver raised an alarm and called Harbhajan Singh,who later informed the police about the burglary.

Harbhajan Singh also told the police that a licensed pistol and 20 cartridges were also kept in the bag,which was stolen by the burglars.

“We have registered a case under section 379 (theft) Indian Penal Code,” said the Station House Officer of Sector 34 police station,Kirpal Singh,“ We have started investigation into the case.”
