Green peace activists stage protest for Arctic 30

Chandigarh: Following the protest held by the members of the Green Peace India Organisation in Delhi,for the 30 people who have been arrested in Russia for protesting against oil drilling in the Arctic region,Chandigarh-based members of the organisation also staged a protest at Sukhna Lake on Saturday. More than 27,750 people from India have already sent a letter to the Russian Ambassador to India for the release of the ‘Arctic 30’. Also,almost 40 members of Parliament have endorsed their support.

2-day workshop on robotics starts at PU

CHANDIGARH: A two-day workshop on robotics being organised by University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET),Panjab University (PU) and conducted by Robosapiens Technologies Private Limited began at the varsity on Saturday.

An eight-hour session was organised on the first day,which provided theoretical as well as practical lessons to the students. The session was conducted by Mayank,a research engineer at Robosapiens.

A competition will be held at the end of the workshop,whose winners will get the opportunity to represent their respective colleges in the ‘RoboTryst-2014’,which is the annual technical festival of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),Delhi.

VHP rally for Asaram in Delhi today

Chandigarh: In a conference organised by Asaramji Bapu Ashram Samiti on Saturday,Vidhan Hindu Parishad (VHP) spokesperson Vijay Bhardwaj announced the Bharat Vishvaguru Chetna Yatra,which will begin from Chandigarh on November 17. Lakhs of people from across the country would reach Jantar Mantar at Delhi to participate in the rally in favour of Asaram Bapu.

200 students participate in Jet Toy Olympics

CHANDIGARH: Mahindra and Mahindra company on Saturday hosted Chandigarh’s Region Jet Toy Olympics at the Millennium School,Mohali. As many as 200 students from across the Tricity participated in the event. Kendriya Vidyalaya,Sector 47 won the champions trophy while,Saupins School Sector 32 stood runner up in the Jet toy category whereas Kendriya Vidyalaya,Sector 47 also won the title in Skimmer category. Both schools will represent the region to participate in the National Olympics to be conducted by SAE INDIA in Bangaluru from December 21 to 23.
