Chandigarh:Police Control Room (PCR) Special Technical Operation Team arrested five persons during wee hours on Saturday for illegal fishing at Sukhna Lake during late night. The team led by Sub Inspector Ghansham laid a trap at Sukhna Lake and caught five persons in the act of fishing. Around 20 kg of fish and fishing net was recovered from their possession. An FIR on charges of theft has been registered against the five accused.

Nine arrested for public drinking

Chandigarh:The Chandigarh Police,on Friday night,booked nine persons from three different sectors for drinking at public place. The nine were caught drinking at public places in Sectors 8,9 and 10. They were booked under the Excise Act and later released on bail. Inspector Neeraj Sarna of Police Station,Sector 3,Chandigarh said “such special drives will continue in future to put an end to the nuisance of drinking at public place”.

Servant accused of theft

Chandigarh:A case on charges of theft was registered today by the Chandigarh Police. A resident of Sector 18-C,Navdeep Gupta,alleged that his servant Sonu stole cash worth Rs 45,000 and jewellery from his residence on Friday when no family member was at home. A case on charges of theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master has been registered by the police in Police station,Sector 19,Chandigarh.
