Teams put on high alert, Ghaggar’s water flow being closely monitored
The DC also said that the vulnerable point of Ghaggar at Tiwana village where it takes a sharp turn was being monitored by keeping sufficient quantities of sandbags by drainage.

Mohali Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aashika Jain on Saturday said that district and sub-divisional administrative teams were put on alert with the onset of rains. The officials were asked to report to the district headquarter, she said.
The DC ADC (Urban Development) Damandeep Singh Mann was entrusted with the task of keeping a close eye on the preparations of Urban Local Bodies while ADC (G) Paramdeep Singh and DRO Gurjinder Singh Benipal were asked to keep a tab on water courses flowing through the district. The DC added that the railway underpasses in Derabassi that submerged in stormwater were given special attention with the stationing of one fire brigade each at Mubarakpur and Janitpur.

The DC added, “In Zirakpur, JCB, tractor trolleys, water-sucking tankers, steel drinking water tankers and jetting machines are made available for emergency services. In Kharar, a building on Landran road was evacuated for the safety of people. Besides, 12 pumps including six tractor mounting have been pressed into service to clear storm water from city roads.
The DC also said that the vulnerable point of Ghaggar at Tiwana village where it takes a sharp turn was being monitored by keeping sufficient quantities of sandbags by drainage. Revenue and Panchayat department officials have been alerted so that any untoward situation can be handled immediately.
The DC said that the Bhankharpur gauge of Ghaggar has registered a flow of 4 feet that is still below the low flood mark of 7 feet.
