A delegation of Government Teachers Union headed by its president,Vinod Sharma,attended a faculty development programme at the Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 16.
The programme was attended by the education secretary VK Singh,joint finance secretary Ajoy Sharma and DPI(S) Upkar Singh.
The teachers union once again emphasised on rolling back the suspension orders and the FIR lodged against the Joint Action Committee. The JAC on Friday postponed their protest till July 31 after meeting the secretary.
The Secretary,Education,VK Singh assured the Government Teachers Union that the decision will be taken in the interest of teachers and said that the lecture-delivering programme will continue and a five-member delegation of GTU will be present on July 27 during the faculty development programme at GMSSS-16.
Meanwhile,the GTU decided to organise a conference,debating the issues of quality education,extending school timings,faculty development programme,continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE),and grading system of marks on August 22 at Moti Ram School Auditorium,Sector 27 of Chandigarh.
The GTU also recently decided to organise a meeting of the General House body very soon after resolving the issue of showcause notice etc on July 27.
DPI(S) Upkar Singh said,The faculty development programme will continue in schools as we are trying to help teachers and by no means are we humiliating them. The programme is for the development of the teachers only development.
