The Chandigarh Police on Sunday arrested a Ropar-based taxi driver Avatar Singh alias Sonu for murdering Labby, the mentally-challenged brother of the woman he loved, after she left him.
On December 9,a local had spotted an injured Labby at Maloya with his hands and feet tied. He was rushed to the hospital but died.
Sonu and Kulwinder Kaur were staying together in Jandpur near Kharar for the last few years. Kulwinder had left her husband and since then had been staying with the accused, said Sector 39 SHO Charanjit Singh.
Kulwinder reportedly left Sonu. Even after his repeated requests, she did not return.
On December 7,Sonu went to Kulwinders village and brought Labby along with him. He threatened Kulwinder that if she did not return,he will kill Labby. After two days,Sonu allegedly beat up Labby with a stick and threw him in the fields to die, the SHO added.
