Tavleen Singh didn’t have an ideal start to the day. After taking lead on Day One of the 9th Punjab Open Ladies golf tournament,Tavleen looked to struggle on the second day as she faltered five times in the front line on a day where weather conditions made things difficult for her. But she managed to recover in time and staved off a strong challenge from the Badwal sisters- Gursimar and Gurjot- to emerge as the champion at the Chandigarh Golf Club on Wednesday. She finished three shots ahead of Gursimar who finished second and five shots ahead of Gurjot who claimed the third spot. Tavleen played the back nine with a 3 over 39 to finish with a score of 8 over 80. Amandeep Drall had to content with fourth place as she repeated the previous day’s score of 82.

Meanwhile,Kainaat Singh won the nett prize for the Gold Division,and the Silver Division was won by Dolly Mangat of Pune who led on both days closely followed by Binny Bath of Chandigarh. The nett prize was claimed by Neelu Chopra of Chandigarh.

The Bronze division comprising veterans of 70 plus was won by the youngest participant,Puneet Bajwa,who is just nine. Also,Suchi Garga prevailed over Baljinder Mangat in the gross.

Pauline J M Singh,the lady captain of the Chandigarh Golf Club,managed to overcome strong challenge from Shiraz Singh of Delhi Golf Club by a single stroke to win the seniors division Max Thirties Trophy. The nett was won by Neelu Chopra

The juniors shield was automatically claimed by the overall winner Tavleen Batra with Gurjot Badwal finishing as the runner up. Kainaat Singh took the nett prize. The Super Seniors gross prize was taken by Binny Bath and Baljinder Mangat was the runner up.
