Honest,polite and god fearing is how Sucha Singhs juniors and seniors unanimously describe him. He addressed everybody,irrespective of ones designation and stature,with ji,Sucha Singhs juniors and colleagues vouch for his integrity. Never,during his 35 years of service,did he ask for a specific posting and did not ever complain against his transfer. He was religious,highly respectful and an able investigating officer, said a police officer.
Sucha Singh was to retire next year. His widow fainted when she learnt about the incident. Since Saturday morning,she fainted several times,unable to come to terms with the irreparable loss. While his daughter could not control her tears,Singhs demise left his son-in-law speechless.
Just last week,Sucha Singh had got his son engaged. His son had left for Canada on Friday evening. Shattered to learn about his fathers murder,he left for Chandigarh on Saturday evening.
As ill-fate would have it,Sucha Singh,who hailed from Kurali,was to fly to Canada with his son on Friday evening. However,since Sucha Singhs leave was not sanctioned he had decided to defer his visit. I so wish he had left with his son on Friday. Had he,we might not have lost him, said a grieving relative.
Gurnam Singh,First City Traffic Marshal said,Sucha Singh was a very dedicated and excellent police officer,who always ensured that police personnel posted under his supervision were working diligently. He was a calm and polite human being. He added,Along with him,I have issued many drink driving and rash driving challans. His death is a huge loss to the UT Police force. May his soul rest in peace. To avoid such incidents in future,Gurnam Singh suggested that two gunmen should be deployed with officers who are on night patrolling.
Sucha Singh will be cremated on Sunday.
