Sucha Singh Chhotepur has been removed as state convener of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. The decision was taken by the state executive at a meeting on May 9.
The meeting, held to discuss the “functioning of the state executive committee, Punjab”, was attended by party MPs Harinder Singh Khalsa and Sadhu Singh, while Bhagwant Mann attended through teleconferencing.
According to the minutes of the meeting, Chhotepur had failed to hold a single meeting of the state executive in nine months, while the party constitution said it should be held twice every month.
“Sucha Singh Chhotepur failed even in discharging the constitutional duty of convening meetings of State Executive Committee, created indiscipline and indiscriminately inducted leaders from other political parties without taking State Executive Committee/National Executive into confidence and thus flouted the provisions of AAP Constitution,” according to the minutes.
After the meeting, the executive wrote to national convener Arvind Kejriwal conveying its decision and the reasons for it.
