The Himachal Pradesh government issued a formal notification on Tuesday to appoint Subash Negi,a senior IAS officer,as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the newly formed Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) Limited,a government-owned company. HPSEB Limited was carved out after unbundling of the board last week.
Principal Secretary (Power) Deepak Sanan said Negi,who was already chairman of the HPSEB,would now function as CMD,while other members of the board had been given the charge of directors. Negi,who will retire towards the end of this year,is also Principal Secretary (Home).
Negi,currently Member (Finance and Administration) of the board,has been named Director (F&A) while R K Dhiman,Member (Technical),will function as Director (Technical) and Anil Dutta as Director (Projects). The post of director (operations) is vacant as of now. The government trifurcated the board last month to create independent entities (companies) to discharge separate functions of distribution,transmission and generation.
The HPSEB Limited will continue to retain its assets,including power projects,transmission lines and sub-stations,to stay as public sector undertaking. The functions of transmission and generation will be with the Himachal Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (HPPTCL) and the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited,respectively.
The notifications reads: Functions of evacuation of power by the intra-state or inter-state transmission lines will be done by the HPPTCL.
