A large number of people from different sections of society,today protested against the continuous bombings of the Gaza Strip in Palestine.
They had gathered at Sector-17 Plaza to express their solidarity with the aggrieved families and prayed for world peace.
The protest was organised by Prof Manjit Singh of the Department of Sociology and Dr Lallan Baghel of the Department of Philosophy,Panjab University,Chandigarh,on behalf of the Voices of Civil Society.
Advocate of the Punjab and Haryana High Court H S Bath,shared his eyewitness account of the destruction of Gaza where Israeli soldiers took pleasure in killing innocent people using third- degree methods.
Chander Sekhar,secretary,CITU,joined the protest with a large number of workers. He criticised the attack on the civilian population of Palestine by Israel.
He further demanded that the Indian government should immediately call back its consul from the Indian Embassy at Israel as a mark of protest against the genocide.
Former teacher of English at PU,Professor HS Mehta, journalist Gobind Thukaral,a fellow of the Panjab University Rabinder Nath Sharma also addressed the gathering.
