Over 30 students from DAV College,Sector 10,SGGS Khalsa College,Sector 26 and Government College for Girls,Sector 11 on Monday staged a protest outside the Panjab University (PU) Administration block demanding re-checking of BCA part I and II papers as the majority of the students failed to pass the examination of the subject.
The students also demanded that if they get their papers re-evaluated,the varsity should not charge them. The students also submitted a representation with the varsity authorities,followed which the PU has formed a committee to probe the issue.
Vice president of the Panjab University Students Union (PUSU),DAV College-10,Atul Ridlaan,said that in DAV college,in BCA- part II,out of 97 students,only 16 managed to clear the exam.
Similarly in Khalsa College,out of 124 students of first year BCA,only 40 cleared the paper.
Either the varsity should re-check papers or re-evaluate the papers and the students should not be charged Rs 500,which is the re-evaluation fee per paper, said Atul.
Talking to Newsline,PU Controller of Examination (CoE) Dr Parvinder Singh said that his office has brought the matter to the notice of the Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover and a committee has been formed to look into the grievances of students. The committee will probe the issue as per the rules and regulations and if the students complaint is found to be genuine,they will be compensated.
