The three days are going to be all about eating, drinking and sleeping dance,” says Sunil Chopra, who, with his dance partner Shalu Chopra, and friend Neeraj Maskara,is organising the India Fiesta Latina (IFL) 2012. The event,a Salsa congress to be held at Jaypee Greens,Greater Noida, from April 13-16,will bring together a tour de force group of national and international salsa artistes under one roof. It will feature over 50 workshops on dance, around 50 performances and party nights that will resonate with the beats of some of the top Latin DJs of the world. “It is for the first time that such a congress is being organised in India. The participants will get to experience the different ways of dancing salsa,” adds Chopra. The organisers say their biggest inspiration towards kick-starting this event is the popular salsa congresses held in Berlin,Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro.

The expected participation for the event is 1,000 people ,including performers, dance instructors from more than 30 countries of Europe,Southeast Asia,Middle East and Latin America, and top-notch DJs.

Joining this delegation will be Valentin Behringer,a photographer who specialises in capturing the fluid grace of salsa events and performances. Workshops that will stretch over the three days of the event will focus on salsa as well as other dance forms — from beginners’ to advanced level groups. This will be followed by salsa socials every night, with parties starting at 11.30 pm and going on till 3 am.
