At around 3 pm on Wednesday Gajraj, whose new-born baby boy was allegedly stolen from the General Hospital,Panchkula, called the Panchkula police informing them that someone in the hospital told him that a baby has been abandoned in the Chandimandir area. The police reached the hospital and rushed to the spot along with Gajraj and his brother Manoj. After an hour-long search and interaction with locals, they returned without tracing the baby.
A day after after the new-born boy of a Panchkula couple was allegedly stolen by two unidentified women from the General Hospital,Panchkula, his mother Meena (35) refused to leave the ward without her child. “Even though the doctors wanted me to get discharged ,I told them I would not leave the ward till I get my baby back,” said Meena.
Her family too demanded that the hospital security personnel and staff be questioned. “Our fault was that we trusted strangers. But what were the hospital security men doing? Are they not supposed to provide security to patients in the hospital?” said Gajraj.
“I believe the two women who kidnapped the new-born must have been regularly visiting the maternity ward and someone among the staff must be knowing them. The staff should be questioned,” said an angry relative of Gajraj. General Hospital Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Dr Usha Gupta said they would not force Meena to leave the hospital. “She is perfectly all right and if she wants to stay in the hospital,we will not force her to leave,” he said.
