The statements of five persons were recorded in the Khushpreet kidnapping and murder case in a local court on Friday.

The statement of Suresh Kumar was recorded in the court. The main accused,Sukhdev,had allegedly deposited Rs 10,000 in Suresh Kumar’s account as payment for pipes he had taken from him. Suresh submitted the original bill books in court. His evidence will continue in the next hearing.

Tara Chand,patwari of the Burail Circle,gave the ownership details regarding Sukhdev’s house at Burail. Kushal Yadav,assistant manager,ICICI bank,submitted bank account statements of a well-wisher of the family who had reportedly given Rs 3 lakh to Khushpreet’s family which was to be given as ransom to the accused.

Another witness,Kamwal Madan,who operates a shop at AKSIP School in Sector 45 ,identified the belt of the victim which was found in Sukhdev’s house. She deposed that the belt was bought from her shop.

Further,Baldev Singh,manager of Indian Bank,on Friday submitted bank details of the main accused in the court. The next date of hearing has been fixed for May 17.

Five-year-old Khushpreet Singh,son of a dairy owner,was kidnapped and subsequently murdered by his neighbour on December 21,2010,near his house at Burail. His body was recovered from Mohali. Khushpreet was not released despite his family paying a ransom of Rs 4 lakh. The police had arrested Sukhdev Singh,Gurvinder Singh and Nand Kishore in connection with the case.
