State-level parade held to observe Police Commemoration Day

A state-level police memorial parade was organised by the Haryana police on the premises of Police Lines on Tuesday to honour the brave martyrs of the state who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

The Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana, Shriniwas Vashisht, along with other senior officials, paid tributes to 653 martyrs of the police and paramilitary forces of 2013-14.

While addressing the police officials Vashist said, “The day reminds every police official to remain duty-bound to the country, keeping in mind the sacrifices made by thousands of martyrs in the past.”

He recalled that on this day, in 1959, a patrol party of CRPF, led by SI Karam Singh, was ambushed by the Chinese forces at Hot Springs, Ladakh, and 10 jawans sacrificed their lives. He added that a police personnel can sacrifice his life for preserving peace and unity in the country.

“Each of us should never forget the sacrifices made by the jawans,” called upon Vashist.

The Commissioner of Police, Ajay Singhal; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rahul Sharma; ACP (city), Mamta Sauda; ACP (headquarters), Adarshdep Singh,and other senior police officers of the state were present on the occasion.
