St John’s-26 to face DAV-8 for football title

Robin mesmerised the opposition Shishu Niketan School,Sector 22,with dazzling array of skills and scored two superbly taken goals to steer DAV School,Sector 8,to a convincing 4-0 win in the 5th Saint Soldier Football Trophy being held at St Soldier School in Sector 28 on Friday. He was a constant threat to the Shishu Niketan defense and looked in superb touch.

Under the overcast skies,the DAV-8 team produced a brilliant performance and asserted their dominance over Shishu Niketan. Robin opened the account for DAV-8 in as early as the fifth minute of the match. They continued to press hard and got three more goals to complete an easy win. While Robin bagged his second goal of the match in the 39th minute,Maninder and Milan were also on target for DAV-8.

In another match,St John’s School,Sector 26,managed a hard-fought 1-0 win against Delhi Public School,Sector 40. Parvez scored the lone goal for St John’s-26. Meanwhile,hosts St Soldier’s School -28 completed a 3-0 win against Mount Carmel School,Sector 47. Yash came up with a stellar performance and scored twice,first in the 30th and then in the 35th minute,to steer the team to an easy win. Akshay also found the back of the net for the hosts in the 37th minute.

In the semi-finals,the hosts lost to St John’s-26,Chandigarh,5-4,in a thrilling encounter. Lalit scored the winning goal for St John’s-26. In the other semifinal match,DAV-8 thrashed Vivek High School,Sector 38,Chandigarh,4-0,in a lop-sided encounter. N Milan bagged a brace as he scored in the 15th and 29th minutes respectively while Maninder and Sumit Hooda were also on the scoresheet.
