Spartans register comprehensive victory over 7 Warriors
CHANDIGARH: Gagan and Noohil both found the back of the net as Spartans registered an easy 2-0 win over 7 Warriors in the under-17 age category in the Chandigarh Football League played on Saturday. After three consecutive losses,7 Warriors now find themselves at the fourth position. On the other hand,Dynamic Devils won their fourth match on the trot to rise to the fourth spot. CR7,the league front runner,suffered a shock 2-3 defeat at the hands of Oasis. Mukesh Thapa netted a brace while Sunveer scored once. Meanwhile,in the u-14 category,Avengers registered their seventh win in nine matches by winning over Victory Strikers. Shivam Pandey,Dhanraj and Yash Chauhan scored for the winners. Also,7 Strikers won their second match of the league with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Youth Warriors. Avengers and Yellow Rangers have secured their berths in the semi-finals while the remaining three teams will vie for the remaining two spots. In the u-12 category,Black Ops and Classic 7 registered easy victories over their respective opponents. Manav and Alankaar lead the goal scoring chart with ten goals each.
Cricket trials tomorrow
Panchkula : The Panchkula District Cricket Association,affiliated to Haryana Cricket Association,will conduct trials on June 24 at 3 pm at Doon Public School,Sector 21,Panchkula,for the selection of the Panchkula District cricket team in under-16 age group. According to Sandeep Moudgil,secretary of the Association,players born on or after September 1,1997,are eligible to appear for the trials. The player must register his name with the assocition at the venue of selection and deposit a fee of Rs 500 with Jaswinder Singh,joint secretary of the Association. The selected players will then undergo a short preparatory camp of five days before the final team is announced. The selected players will then participate in the Haryana State Inter-District Cricket Championship starting from June 28. Panchkula will take on Ambala in the opening match at JR Institute of Cricket Technology ( Barwala),Panchkula,in the 40-over match .
Fencing Nationals from June 24
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Fencing Association and Punjabi University,Patiala,under the auspices of Fencing Association of India,will organise the 5th National Fencing Federation Cup (Late Arun Kumar Vij Memorial Trophy) for men and women at Multipurpose Indoor hall,Punjabi University,Patiala,from June 24 to 26. A total of 300 fenders and officials from all over India will take part in the event. The teams participating in the event are Services Sports Control Boards,Shashtra Seema Bal,AP,Assam,Bihar,Chandigarh,Delhi,Punjab,J&K,Himachal Pradesh,Manipur,Karnataka,Kerala,M.P.,Chhattisgarh,Pondicherry,Tamilnadu,Uttrakhand,Maharashtra,Haryana& UP.
