(File) Three people, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed after a speeding car, allegedly driven by a drug smuggler, hit their two-wheeler in Punjab’s Ferozpur district Monday morning, the police said.
The police have identified the deceased as Amar Singh, his brother Kulbir Singh and their relative Nimrat Kaur, 7 – all residents of Budhuwala village. The bodies were cremated on Tuesday after post-mortem, they said. The incident occurred near the Makhu electricity office when a team of counter-intelligence agency of Ferozepur was chasing the car, said an officer.
“The police have arrested the drug smuggler, Arshdeep Singh of Amritsar, and seized 7.03 kg heroin from him, while his accomplice, Rajinder Singh alias Rinku Taran Taran, managed to flee,” Ferozepur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Hillori told The Indian Express.
The accused has been booked under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), apart from registering a case under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985.
