Son of former SAD Punjab minister among 5 arrested for drug peddling in Shimla

The Shimla police arrested two-time former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Punjab minister Sucha Singh Langah’s son Parkash Singh and four others, including a woman, for allegedly possessing and consuming drugs at a private hotel on Tuesday.

Parkash Singh is a resident of Chandigarh. The other four have been identified as Avni Negi from Sangla in Kinnaur, Ajay Kumar, 27, from Patiala, Shubham Kaushal, 26, from Kansal at Sector-1 in Chandigarh, Balbinder, 22, from Nayagaon in Mohali.

Sources said, “The Shimla police raided the hotel room following secret information. Parkash Singh introduced himself as the son of a senior politician of Punjab. Upon questioning, he revealed the name of his father. Three of them were high on drugs when the raid was conducted. Around 42 gm of heroin was recovered from their possession. The entire operation was videographed as per the instructions of senior officers.”
