Air Commodore SC Chafekar Shaurya Chakra on Wednesday handed over the command of 12 Wing,Air Force Chandigarh to Air Commodore SK Indoria Vayu Sena medal,who is now the 28th air officer commanding the 12 Wing.
A ceremonial parade was conducted by the air warriors under the command of group captain Navjodh Singh VSM for handling the taking-over ceremony.
After serving the city base as flight commander,commanding officer and air officer commanding in many capacities,SC Chafekar is now posted to air headquarters,New Delhi as principal director operations (space).
SC Chafekar said,I have operated in other places in India also,but the fact is that the Chandigarh base has been the best amongst all. The most important task assigned to me as AOC was the merger of IL 76 shifted from Nagpur to Chandigarh. The credit of the success of the achievement of the task goes to the air warriors. I am in love with this place and will keep coming here.
Talking about the issue of Chinas incursion into Indian territory,Chafekar also said,We are always prepared. We do not have any details,because as a true soldier we only deal with execution and not details.
SK Indoria said,Officially it is my first posting in Chandigarh,but I am not new to the base. I will try to take ahead the rich legacy of the Chandigarh base maintained by the SC Chafekar.
Air Commodore SK Indoria was commissioned as a pilot in the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in 1986. He has logged over 6,000 hours of flying and is fully Ops on all operational roles and missions of the MIG-21,MIG-27 and AN-32 aircrafts.
Indoria has undergone the Joint Staff and Command Course in Indonesia and High Air Command Course at College of Air Warfare (CAW). He commanded the premier Transport Squadron of IAF (12 squadron) at Agra.
Prior to taking over command,SK Indoria was PD Ops (T and H) at headquarters (Vayu Bhawan) where he was in charge of the Indian Air Force Transport Fleet.
