The sitting Congress MLA from Jaitu,Joginder Singh has been summoned by a Faridkot court in a cheque bounce case. The court,in its order of Friday, said it had found Joginder and the other accused, guilty of the offence and hence ordered them to be present in person in court of July 11,when the case comes up for hearing.
The order was delivered on a case filed by Amarjeet Lal,a Faridkot resident. Lal alleged that the Baba Farid Truck Union had owed him around Rs 72,000. The amount was paid through a cheque in October 2011. The cheque, however, was returned by a Bank of Indias local branch citing insufficient funds. The MLA is the head of the truck union and the cheque bore his signatures.
Lal claims that he had first served a legal notice to the MLA,which the latter refused to accept and added that as he was left with no other option,he had approached the court for help. The court has summoned the MLA,Municipal Commissioner Devinder Kumar, and an official Parkash Singh Maur for the next hearing. The MLA ,who faces two other cheque bounce cases, maintains that the issue has arisen due to miscommunication and said it will be resolved soon and as per the law.
