Police said the SIT is conducting further in-depth investigation into the matter.
The Punjab police have claimed that the Special Investigation Team probing a case related to alleged offences under Sections 295, 295-A, 409, 465 and 120-B of the IPC on Wednesday inspected Rasokhana Raja Sahib Nabh Kanwal at village Mazara Nau Abad near Banga in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district and found a discrepancy in records of the holy saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
A press release issued by the police said the SIT visited the premises on January 14 in connection with FIR No. 168 dated December 17, 2025, registered at Police Station C-Division, Amritsar. The inspection was carried out after observing the prescribed religious maryada, including performing ardas in the presence of members of the management committee and granthi Singhs.
During the inspection, a total of 169 holy saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were found at Rasokhana Raja Sahib Nabh Kanwal. Of these, 30 saroops had been provided by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee on request. Ten saroops were supplied through Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Satvin at village Dusanjh Khurd and 20 through Gurdwara Sahib at village Mazara Nau Abad, both in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, under bills dated January 8, 2009.
The police claimed that the remaining 139 saroops, however, were not supported by any records with the management committee of Rasokhana Raja Sahib Nabh Kanwal. Statements of the committee members have been recorded in this regard.
Police said the SIT is conducting further in-depth investigation into the matter.
