THE UT Police is still groping in the dark more than a week after the murder of national-level shooter and corporate lawyer Sukhmanpreet Singh alias Sippy Sidhu. A male helper of Sippy who was questioned some days ago was also released by the police.
The helper used to assist Sippy during his business tours. Sources said he was questioned to probe property angle in the case as Sippy reportedly had a dispute with a Delhi-based businessman regarding a property at Fatehgarh Sahib.
“We worked on all theories, including property. We questioned one of his (Sippy’s) helpers. We wanted to know where Sippy owned properties and whether there was any dispute and if there was then how serious it was. We questioned him and let him off,” said an investigating officer.
Sippy’s younger brother Jippy said that they had already told the police everything and they wanted every suspect to be questioned, irrespective of their family background. Jippy added that if they did not get the result soon then they would approach the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
“It has been one week now. We read a lot about the claims of the Chandigarh Police that they are very close to cracking the case. But even after seven days, no development has been made. We request the police to arrest the culprits as soon as possible,” said Jippy.
A police officer who is part of the investigating team said that they were analysing the data retrieved from Sippy’s iPhone and were in the process of arresting the persons involved in the murder.
