A SPECIAL INVESTIGATION TEAM (SIT) of the Chandigarh police again questioned the daughter of a woman judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Saturday in connection with the murder of corporate lawyer and national-level shooter Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu alias ‘Sippy’ Sidhu. The questioning session at the crime branch office in Sector 11 began around 4 pm and lasted nearly four hours. She would be questioned again in a few days, the police said.
Sources said the woman was asked about the allegations levelled by Sippy Sidhu’s family that she had threatened him in August. A police officer said the woman was asked whether she had been putting pressure on Sippy to marry her. She was asked about her movements two days before the murder of Sippy Sidhu and after the murder. The sources added that the woman told the police that she was in a party on September 20, the day of the murder.
The woman was also asked about a person who is a resident of Phase 9 in Mohali and who was a close family friend of the woman and Sippy, the sources said. The man is said to be an NRI.
Meanwhile, Sippy’s family members reiterated their demand for a “fair probe” in the case. The family had submitted a representation to the office of Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court and alleged that the woman was “interfering in the investigation process.”
